this baby registry stuff is ridiculous

we walked into Target and then Babies R Us and walked out about 90 minutes later not having made a single decision and were just completely overwhelmed. and that’s with the last 6 months of research under my belt.

with wedding registering it’s all about what you want, might like to have but are not going to buy for yourself, or possibly some things you actually need. but the baby stuff? it’s about what you WILL NEED to feed, clothe, and bathe a baby. and on top of that it’s which one of those you need is the best choice for your lifestyle and how you plan on raising your babe because for some things there are just too many options and Consumer Reports can only take you so far.

so we’re gonna go back and try Round 2 in a few weeks after we’ve regrouped and just go ahead and pull the trigger on those decisions.

on the bright side i came away with 3 more boxes of Count Chocula. because the baby wants it of course.

  1. erthy-e said: I think it’s easiest to do online! You can register at both places online - safely behind your computer & walk away when it starts to become too much. Plus you can research items at the same time :)
  2. judiism said: an added complication is - you’ve always used dishes. you’ve probably had some experience with a pasta strainer and a can opener. so wedding registering is familar. with a baby it’s (probably) ALL BRAND NEW. which makes it so weird.
