it's always like this

4 notes &

in our house

there are certain ways that food gets prepared

and i would have always assumed that this is just the way everyone makes these things if my husband didn’t look at me like i had two heads the first time he made any of these NOT in the way i’m accustomed to. i may or may not have reacted innappropraitely.

but my son will grow up knowing that…

  • grilled cheese sandwiches taste best squished flat. flat flat flat.
  • pancakes too, none of this big fluffy pancake business
  • homemade tuna fish sammies go only on toasted bread
  • pb&j just tastes better on wheat (honey wheat if you’ve got it)
  • potroast tastes best served over white rice (picked up from Mike’s family… everything goes on white rice there)
  • garlic bread is the perfect accompaniment to taco salad
  • sweet tea is made by boiling the sugar water first
  • english muffins get butter and grape jelly when toasted
  • certain meats go better with miracle whip, others with mayo
  • sweet potato pie is only good when it’s made by the family recipe (many will attest to this)
  • boxed brownies are always made with the “cake-like” recipe
