calling up teenage girls you don’t know is very awkward
especially when their mom wants to talk to you. i always feel like i’m in trouble.
and finding someone you trust enough to leave them with your precious little baby whose life is more important than your own is incredibly hard.

everybody wants to hurry up and be back to their pre-pregnancy weight and wearing their pre-pregnancy clothes as soon as their baby is out
those two things don’t always go together.
most of us get to make our way back to pre-pregnancy weight but the clothes don’t necessarily fit. everything is in different places, different shapes.
it’s your mom-body. embrace it.

Zutano runs small/lean
Baby Gap is lean but can sometimes be short too
Gymboree runs HUGE, “it’s generously sized” as the sales girl clarified
and some baby stuff will just never fit your baby because its either cut so wide it looks like a potato sack but so short it’s cutting into...

My Hurricane Preparations Included...
trip to the mall this morning
a stop at the bakery after that for some delicious fresh bread and cookies as well as a sandwich as big as my head

me: no, we're good. we always have emergency supplies and i'll be shocked if we lose power. it's gonna hit up there harder than where i am, are you prepared for the storm?

have infant Tylenol on hand BEFORE you go to the Dr for your first round of shots (some Docs thats 1mos, others its 2mos)
they’ll likely run a fever afterward and the last thing you’ll want to do is stroll the aisles of Target trying to find this stuff with a screaming baby running a low grade fever in tow

i have so many things i’ve learned (most the hard way) that i figured i should start sharing whether you care or not
this week i learned that rice cereal is binding
sweet potatoes are binding
feeding your son sweet potatoes with rice cereal will not make him happy after a day or so because, well, he’s all “bound up”

Update: travel pee tips
I ended up using variations of some methods suggested
- when he was awake I simply grabbed him, put a paper toilet seat on, watched it go down the auto flush before I could get my pants unzipped, re-paper seated and moved as fast as possible and the baby just sat on my knee. there were enough new sights and sounds that he didn’t squirm at all
